In emo culture, feelings are placed at a premium and emo fashion can only be described as being extremely non-threatening. Much like emo’s attitude towards life, comfort is placed at a premium in emo fashion. Typically, tight jeans are a staple in emo fashion. However, you don’t want your pants to be too tight or then you’ll be entering the world of 80’s glam rock fashion.
Additionally, vintage clothing is considered to be a great and cheap way to accessorize yourself and express your own personal style. A popular staple of emo fashion is wearing vintage T-shirts or t-shirts of popular emo bands that will impress your friends. Mirroring the entrepreneurial attitude that is so popular today, it is not uncommon for emo fashion to incorporate t-shirts supporting smaller fashion labels or skateboarding companies. Distancing itself from the much more glammed out 80’s fashion, emo fashion can be described as being a bit nerdy, reflected in the huge popularity of thick, black-rimmed glasses.

Exclusive Q&A With Sindi Nene From SA Idols

Sindi Nene chatted exclusively to The GLD and despite the fact that she was eliminated last night – we know that this 22-year old is ready for serious business!

GL: Sindi, what has been your highlight on the show?

SN: My highlight has definitely been the opportunity to perform live on television, but especially my “showstopper” performance of Single Ladies by Beyoncé.

GL: With your hectic schedule, how did you find time to unwind and relax?

SN: Well, I tried my best to sleep as often as time allowed and it helped a lot to relax both my mind and body.

GL: Future plans after Idols?

SN: Since I was a performer before Idols I will continue to pursue my career, bearing in mind that I have a lot more opportunities than before. I was a performer before, during and will surely be after Idols.

GL: Apart from yourself, among the Top 14 who would've been your pick as the next SA Idol and why?

SN: I know that every contestant in the Top 14 was extremely talented and had the power within them to have won Idols. Unfortunately in this competition there is only one winner – however, I believe most of the Top 14 have what it takes to be South Africa’s next big “thing”

GL: You are obviously a role model to many, any words of wisdom to your fans?

SN: Never loose sight of your dreams, always consult with the Man upstairs for direction and truth. Lastly, always trust yourself and lots of love to you all!

                                                       In the last period fashion has changed excessively. Long gone the days when teenage boys didn't worry about what to wear and just threw a pair of jeans on and a simple shirt. We all know that girl's fashion is on top, but more and more attention is being given to boy fashion. Nowadays many styles have come to life: from urban, prep, punk to street wear and others. If you are a teenage boy try to pick your style according to your personality. Actually you may try various styles by mixing them up. But remember: the more comfortable you feel in your clothes, the better you look.

                                                         When buying boys clothing be sure you choose the classics: jeans, khaki pants, T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters and sneakers. You can match them easily and still be fashionable and feel comfortable. But match your clothes properly. First thing, colors! You can pick complementary colors that are closer together in shades like: blue and green, khaki and gray, red and orange or the classic, black and white. 

                                                           Be sure you choose either complementary or contrasting colors. Do not mix them together and avoid mixing patterns.Try not to be sloppy. Everyone knows there isn't any trend that allows you to wear wrinkled T-shirts. Also, avoid the head-to-toe baggy look. It's so outdated! No matter how much you may like this look, no one - not even teenage girls - wants to take a look at your underpants. Make sure you wear a belt. It's even better if you match it to your shoes.

                                                        

If you want to look your best and not dress the same way every day, invest your money in as many T-shirts as possible. They come in various colors and patterns or fun sayings and they don't cost much. Polo shirts are too a must-have for the wardrobe of a teenage boy. They are similar to T-shirts but with a neater look. Hoodies, vests, sweats and maybe some casual pants are too important in your wardrobe.

                                                         Light colors have become very fashionable in the last couple of years. So if you like light colors like pink, blue, yellow or purple don't be ashamed to wear them. By wearing such colors you make yourself noticed and not get lost in the crowd. It's also a way to show off your personality. I guarantee girls like bold teenage boys. Also don't be afraid of accessorizes. Either it's a watch, a belt, bracelets or a leather string around the neck you can really pull an outfit by wearing them.
